"The Public Interest Law Centre operates as part of Legal Aid Manitoba, but has a mandate to represent groups and individuals on cases which will impact the law or classes of people broadly. The Centre is selective about which cases to undertake. Factors include legal merit, social significance, resources required to conduct the case, finances and credibility of the organization or individual seeking assistance, and current priorities and workload of the Centre."
The activities of the Research Chair and staff generated a number of different types of publications. The publications program is intended to serve a number of purposes: background and resource documents for students; information for community organizations; to inform the policy process of governments; information for academics working in similar areas and related fields; and, dissemination of findings of the research activities of the Chair.
"As a leading pioneer in delivering financial literacy education in Canada since 2003; the Edmonton Financial Literacy Society (EFLS) is a registered non-profit charitable organization that has to date, delivered impartial financial literacy education to over 1,600 people, predominantly focusing on low income clients, including Aboriginals, Recent Immigrants, Youth, and other low income segments via partnerships with over 50 different organizations."
Through the Financial Inclusion 2020 project, the Center for Financial Inclusion aims to build a movement that mobilizes stakeholders around the globe to achieve full inclusion using the year 2020 as a focal point to galvanize action.
"The Global Financial Inclusion initiative at Innovations for Poverty Action seeks to identify ways to enhance how individuals manage their financial portfolios and transactions...The initiative manages two research funds seeking to test, evaluate and replicate interventions to improve products, delivery channels, and tools to help users make the most of their financial portfolios."
