Statistics (Mathematical)

Welcome to the Statistics Subject Guide!

Statistics is concerned with the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data including areas of theoretical statistics and probability theory, where stress is placed on the logical development of statistical methods.

This guide will help point out some useful resources available to you that can assist you in doing your research.

Your Librarian

As the Librarian responsible for Statistics, I work in conjunction with the Faculty to select new material (books and other items) that will be of use to anyone researching in this area.  We strive to select material that is well reviewed and pertinent to the needs of the students and researchers.  But I do more than just pick books.

Your professors teach you the material you need to learn for your program.  They provide readings and assignments that will help you understand the material.  I can help you find further material that can help expand your learning.  I can help you learn how best to use our various databases to locate the best material to use for your assignments.  I can also help you develop your Information Literacy skills, such as:

  • Determining the extent of information needed
  • Accessing the needed information effectively and efficiently
  • Critically evaluating information and its sources
  • Using information effectively to accomplish a specific purpose
  • Understanding the economic, legal, and social issues surrounding the use of information

My contact information is available on the right hand side of this screen.  Please let me know how I can help you!
