Women's and Gender Studies

The Institute for Women’s Policy Research is the leading think tank in the United States focusing primarily on domestic women’s issues. The Institute conducts rigorous research and disseminates its findings to address the needs of women, promote public dialog, and strengthen families, communities, and societies.

We are a National Indigenous Organization that defends the rights, delivers programming to, and amplifies the perspectives of Indigenous women, girls, Two-Spirit, transgender, and gender-diverse people in Canada, inclusive of First Nations – on and off reserve, status and non-status, disenfranchised – Métis, and Inuit. We were founded on the collective goal to enhance, promote, and foster the social, economic, cultural, and political well-being of Indigenous women, girls, Two-Spirit, transgender, and gender-diverse people within their respective communities and Canadian societies.

Women have unique health needs, and many diseases and conditions affect women differently than men. The Society for Women’s Health Research (SWHR) is the thought leader in advancing women’s health through science, policy, and education while promoting research on sex differences to optimize women’s health. We are making women’s health mainstream.

CRIAW-ICREF is a research institute which provides tools to facilitate organizations taking action to advance social justice and equality for all women. CRIAW-ICREF recognizes women’s diverse experiences and perspectives; creates spaces for developing women’s knowledge; bridges regional isolation; and provides communication links between/among researchers and organizations actively working to promote social justice and equality for all women.

The Canadian Committee on Women’s and Gender History was organized at the 1975 meeting of the Learned Societies and is currently affiliated with the Canadian Historical Association. With over 200 active members, it is the largest committee affiliated with the CHA. Its goals include promoting teaching and research in the field of women’s history; disseminating information about sources, current research and publications; encouraging the preservation of archival sources in women’s history; linking researchers, professors, teachers and students with each other and with other similar organizations in other countries; monitoring the status of women in the historical profession and working to raise that status.

Gifts of Speech is a non-profit project, sponsored by Sweet Briar College, dedicated to preserving and creating access to speeches by inspirational, influential and contemporary, women from around the world.

The Victorian Women Writers Project (VWWP) began in 1995 at Indiana University and is primarily concerned with the exposure of lesser-known British women writers of the 19th century. The collection represents an array of genres - poetry, novels, children's books, political pamphlets, religious tracts, histories, and more. VWWP contains scores of authors, both prolific and rare.
